All Radar Updates →Since July 2, 2026, TAP has also connected Porto directly with Praia with three weekly flights - easyJet has been progressively expanding its own Porto connections since October 2024 (initially just Sal, Boa Vista and Praia added since October 2025, São Vicente added since March 30, 2026 - now four Cape Verde islands from Porto in total). Often the cheaper entry point than Lisbon for travelers from northern Europe.
Price trends aren't reliably documented so far. Please verify figures from market reports against a source.

IUP abolished. New IPI (0.1%) and ITI (1%, 3% for tax-privileged buyers/sellers) in effect since January 1, 2026 (Laws No. 55/X/2025 & 54/X/2025 of June 6, 2025). Not tax advice, please verify in your specific case.
The threshold depends on the respective municipality's GDP per capita, not a blanket per-island rule: €80,000 for below-average municipal GDP, otherwise €120,000 - in practice mostly municipalities on Santiago, São Vicente, Sal and Boa Vista. Enables indefinite residency rights (card renewed every 5 years) for spouses & minor children - without a requirement to live there permanently. Get legal advice before investing.

New renewable energy generation equipment is exempt from import duties. VAT treatment varies by case - clarify with customs or a tax advisor beforehand.

CaboVerde360 isn't a glossy travel blog. It's an honest, independent resource for Cape Verde - built on the experiences of over 8,000 real people.
Real success stories from people who took the leap to Cape Verde - with hurdles and detours, not just the happy ending.
Real Talk: honest trip reports straight from the community - no glossy filter, no invented quotes.
Over 8,000 members have been exchanging knowledge in our Facebook group since 2012 - the real source behind this portal.

Not an anonymous portal. A real community.
I've run the Facebook group "Kap Verde" since 2012 - today over 8,000 members who've spent years asking questions, sharing experiences and making mistakes we can all learn from. CaboVerde360 is an attempt to bring that collected knowledge together in one place, understandable, current and honest.
I've been to Boa Vista myself - but we deliberately base most of our content not on personal anecdotes, but on official sources (legal texts, authorities, statistics offices) and the community's shared experiences. Where something is uncertain, we say so - better honestly incomplete than falsely all-knowing.

Is the legal and tax information current and reliable?
We check legal information against official Cape Verdean sources and date-stamp the legal status. That said: CaboVerde360 is a journalistic outlet and informational guide, not legal, tax or investment advice. For specific plans, we always recommend consulting a licensed local professional.
Is Cape Verde safe - for travel and for moving here?
Compared to many other travel destinations, Cape Verde is considered relatively safe, with the usual precautions against petty crime. Details vary by island - our individual island guides address this specifically rather than making a blanket statement for the whole country.
Do I need a visa for Cape Verde?
EU, UK, US, Canadian and most Western nationals are visa-free for tourist stays up to 30 days (other nationalities typically get visa-on-arrival). Before entry, the paid online registration via the official EASE portal is still mandatory. Different rules apply for longer stays or moving here - details in our Moving Here section.
What does moving to or investing in Cape Verde actually cost?
It depends heavily on the island, lifestyle and plans - we deliberately work with guideline figures and ranges rather than invented single prices, since costs change by provider and season. You'll find concrete orientation in the budget overviews on the respective island and Moving Here pages.
How often is the content updated?
We date-stamp legally relevant content with a legal status (currently 2026) and update it when changes become known, such as new laws or fees. If you find outdated information, let us know via the community or contact page.
Sources & Status of This Page
- NHR tax benefits (up to 7 years, 10% on local income from "high-value activities"): Details, conditions & sources in the Tax Residency Guide.
- Residency rights from €80,000 or €120,000 investment: Details & sources in the Golden Visa Guide.
- Real estate from ~€70,000 (corrected October 18, 2026): The badge previously cited "€50,000" - this figure wasn't found anywhere on the linked detail page. The actual cheapest documented entry price there is Santa Maria (Sal) at ~€70,000; smaller islands are explicitly marked there as "significantly lower, but barely any reliable data," not given a concrete figure. Details & current market situation in the Market & Top Locations Guide.
- easyJet Porto-expansion date corrected (October 25, 2026): The radar ticker entry on TAP's Porto-Praia route previously stated a blanket "since October 2025 (four islands from Porto)" for easyJet - in fact, the Porto expansion rolled out in stages: Sal since October 2024 (independently confirmed via theportugalnews.com, article dated October 30, 2024), Boa Vista and Praia since October 2025, São Vicente only added since March 30, 2026. Corrected accordingly to avoid falsely suggesting a single start date for all four islands.
